The Novoferm-Tormatic Novotron 524 hand-held transmitter in the high-quality design impresses with its elegant silver and white housing. Thanks to the unobtrusive eyelet directly in the silver frame, the Novotron 524 design handle can be attached directly to the key chain using the included lanyard. The modern Novotron 524 is a real all-rounder. In addition to its high-quality design, it also has the technical advantage that the signal encryption can be easily switched from the factory-preset AES 128Bit to the older Keeloq rolling code method directly on the hand-held transmitter. This means that the Novotron garage door handle is suitable for both the newer door drives with AES encryption and many older garage door drives with the classic Keeloq method. The Novotron 524 design handheld transmitter has four buttons, each of which can be assigned individually. Each button has its own radio channel, which is why the Novotron 524 is sometimes referred to as a 4-channel handheld transmitter. In practice, such a 4-channel version means that each button can control a different gate, for example, or different functions such as separately switching the lamp on the drive on and off or a ventilation position. Which functions can be controlled and programmed on your gate depends on the design and age of your drive and can be found in the operating instructions for your gate drive.

Novotron 524 coding from AES 128 bit to Keeloq as replacement for older drives

This modern and elegant design handheld transmitter can be used for most newer garage door drive models as well as for many older door drives. Thanks to the adjustable coding or encryption method, the handheld transmitter is downwards compatible, i.e. it also functions as a replacement handheld transmitter for many older remote control models. This is because the radio frequency of 433 MHz has remained unchanged for many years and only the type of encryption has changed in the newer drives from around May 1st 2015 onwards to the even more secure AES 128 bit method. Older drives usually still encrypt the radio signal using the classic Keeloq alternating code method. Both encryption methods serve the purpose of encrypting your radio signal, which is sent from your remote control to the motor each time a button is pressed, so that no stranger can intercept and copy the signal. The handheld transmitter and drive or receiver can only communicate with each other if both the radio frequency and the coding method match.

The Novotron 524 Design is always pre-set with the modern AES 128 bit method at the factory. This means that the remote control only needs to be switched to the older Keeloq method if your drive still uses the older alternating code. Conveniently, the LED on the Novotron 524 Design already shows which encryption is set. The LED on the handheld transmitter flashes every time a button is pressed if the AES 1278 bit method is set. If you now want to use the Novotron 524 for a drive with Keeloq, press all handheld transmitter buttons simultaneously for approx. 5 seconds. The LED then only lights up once briefly each time a button is pressed, signaling that the Keeloq method has been successfully set. This means that you can usually easily see which method is used for your gate from a handheld transmitter that you still have.
